What’s different about Empower Good?

Here are five things that make our community unique:

#1 Warm and welcoming. Maybe you’ve been in a church or in a community where—even though you love Jesus—you’ve felt judged, been rejected, been marginalized because of your income, politics, theology, how you love, what kind of car you drive, your personality—whatever. We’re working hard to make sure that doesn’t happen here.

#2 Your Christian Superpower (different from your spiritual gift). Empower Good is the only place where you discover your Christian Superpower and how it shapes your God-given mission. (Day 5 of the Empower Good Starter Guide.)

#3 Focused on your mission. Most churches and Christian ministries are focused on how you can serve their God-given vision. We turn that around. Here at Empower Good, we’re focused on how we can serve your God-given mission.

#4 Experience God. Many Christian teachers and preachers have only one drumbeat: try harder. Our focus is different. We want you to experience soul-shifting encounters with God—not spooky, not scary—just quiet, healing, transforming encounters with Jesus where you soak in His love and walk away a different person.

#5 Close friends. We don’t want you to slip through the cracks here. You deserve to be seen, to be celebrated, to be supported, to be respected, to be cared for and cared about. We’re working to build a robust network of healthy small groups and help you find the one that’s right for you.

Who is—and isn’t—eligible to join

This is a community for Christian adults who love Jesus.

We don’t care if you attend church, where you attend church, how you vote, how much money you make or don’t make, what you look like, what’s in the fine print of your theological beliefs—none of that really matters to us as long as you sincerely love Jesus Christ.

However, if you don’t take your Christian faith seriously, please don’t join. This isn’t for you. This is a community for people who are committed to loving, respecting, and getting along with other Christians who may think differently, vote differently, have differences in theology. If you’re the type of person who has a compelling need to go around and correct people who think differently than you do, then this is not for you.

Bottom line: If you love Jesus and you love people, this is for you.

What is the 21-Day Starter Guide, and why start with that?

If you do join, I ask you to go through our 21-day Empower Good Starter Guide. It’s laid out like an easy peasy course. A short video each day and an easy assignment—no grades, just something fun. It will really help you get the most from this community.

What does Empower Good cost?

Check out Empower Good for 21 days 100% free, no credit card needed. If you decide it’s right for you, there are affordable options for everyone—I mean everyone. If you’re sleeping in a cardboard box in an alley, and can’t afford a penny, we’ll make a way for you—so don’t worry about it, don’t stress—just try it out and see if it’s right for you. If it’s not right for you, no worries, you can walk away—no pressure, no judgment, no problem.

We’re looking for the people who say, “Wow. Empower Good is the community I’ve been looking for all my life.” If that’s you, then we want to help you feel at home, and make this into a beautiful experience for you.

Please explain the platform…

We are on the Heartbeat platform. It’s not the same as Facebook, but if you know how to work Facebook, you won’t have any trouble with Heartbeat.

We are online. On a laptop or other computer, you can just use a browser (they also have a desktop app). If you want to experience this community on a phone or mobile device, there’s an app. If you’re doing this on a phone, you want the app. You can download it right now. It’s free.

You will need an email address. You don’t need to worry about a login with a password, Heartbeat signs you in automatically with a link sent to your email. And then you’ll stay signed in as long as you visit the community regularly. If you visit on a new device, Heartbeat will send you a new link to your email.

What happens when you click “Join here”?

The Heartbeat platform will ask you for your email address. They’ll send you an email with a link you’ll need to click.

> You will be asked to upload a profile picture. You can always change it later.

> You’ll see a prompt to tell us something about yourself. This is just a way of introducing you to our community. Don’t overthink it. Here are some examples, but you do you:

“Hi! I like stories, and animals, and art. I love to create, understand, and figure out.”

“I am a wife of 46 years, a mother of four adult children, grandmother of six children, writer, speaker, and mentor.”

“Born in Finland. Live in Texas with my wife and two sons. I want to love God more and serve him.”

> You’ll watch a short video with me welcoming you into the community.

> You’ll agree to our code of conduct “How we agree to love one another”

> You’ll get a link—probably by email—to the first lesson in the 21 day Empower Good Starter Guide.

You won’t be asked for a credit card number or for any payment. You have the first 21 days to try out the community for free. If you decide Empower Good is for you, then you pay whatever monthly amount God puts on your heart. If you cannot afford to pay anything, you message me, and we’ll find a volunteer role for you as an alternative to payment.
